Incumbent Fuda wins nomination in Trumbull

Frank Fuda of Niles has taken the first step toward election to his second term as Trumbull County commissioner, beating David Cook of Leavittsburg for the Democratic nomination.

His opponent in November is Republican Mark Allen of West Farmington.

Fuda, 64, a retired teacher, said he didn’t have time to campaign against Cook and isn’t sure he’ll have time to campaign before the general election.

“With my job [as commissioner], I really didn’t have time to campaign in the primary,” Fuda said. “The main thing is to do the job.”

Trumbull County government has continued to function at a high level without layoffs because Trumbull County officials work together, Fuda said during a pre-election interview.

Fuda’s Democratic opponent, Cook, has run for commissioner three times before, never winning.
