FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a baked chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. The menu will include salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread and butter, pie and beverage. Cost is $6.50, and containers will be provided for takeout orders. No reservations are necessary. Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 and 534, Southington, will have a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 pm. The menu includes scalloped potatoes, green beans applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Cost is $7.50 for adults. Meals for children 4 to 10 with chicken tenders are $4 and free for those 3 and under. Call the church at (330) 898-2156 and carryouts will be ready for pickup.

THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, will have takeout dinners available from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade authentic Chinese dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s meal will be pork and onions with brown sauce. Cost is $5. To order in advance call (330) 799-8133 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. that day.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will have takeout dinners of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans and a brownie from 4 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $7. Just drive through and pick up a dinner. No reservations are required.

FRIDAY

American Legion FDR Post 560, 103 12th St., Campbell, will host a fish and shrimp fry from noon to 6 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Ticket price includes macaroni and cheese or french fries, coleslaw or haluski, and bread and butter. Desserts and refreshments will be available, and there will be a 50-50 raffle. Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Advance sales only. Lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, will begin selling Brier Hill-style pizza every Friday. A 12-inch pizza will be $10. Orders may be called in before 5 p.m., and pickup will be from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information or to order, call (330) 538-3351.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide own containers. No walk-in orders.

St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will bake Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 9 and 11:30 a.m. only. Pickup will be until 12:30 p.m. Price is $6 for regular or Brier Hill pizza and $5 for white pizza. This will be the last sale until September.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 2100 Colonial St. S.E., Warren, will host a dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each Friday. The menu includes barbecue ribs and chicken, fried chicken, fried whiting and catfish, green beans, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, fries, corn bread, sweet potato pie and pound cake. Also available will be poor boy sausage sandwiches. Meals are made fresh to order. Orders will be accepted at (330) 369-8501 for pickup or delivery.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.

Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, 2250 Tod Ave., Warren, will have an all-you-can-eat fish dinner from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. (or until sold out). The cost is $9 for adults, $3 for children. The menu will include deep fried ocean perch, home-fried potatoes, coleslaw, homemade desserts and beverage. Meatloaf will also be available.

SATURDAY

Fowler United Methodist Church will serve a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for preschoolers. The menu will include potato, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, drink and dessert. Takeouts will be available.

SUNDAY

Newton Falls VFW 3332 Auxiliary, 433 Arlington Road, will host its last breakfast of the season from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage links, toast, orange juice, milk, tea and coffee. St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, adjacent to Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, will serve a Mother’s Day dinner at 11:45 a.m. Available on the all-you-can-eat buffet will be roast beef, turkey with stuffing, vegetables, desserts and beverages. TUESDAY

Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will sell stuffed cabbage rolls from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or until sold out). Cost is $1.50 each. TAKING ORDERS

American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for carryout stuffed cabbage. The cost is $12 a dozen. Orders will be accepted until Thursday at (330) 792-5124 or (330) 799-7008. Pickup will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 15 at the club. Patrons my provide containers for takeouts and save a $1.25 container charge.

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., is taking orders for individual serving-sized baked ham loaves at (330) 758-4527. Cost is $1.25 each, and pickup will be between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18. This is the last sale until September.

UPCOMING

Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1128 State Road, Champion, will host a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. May 12. The menu includes four sides, rolls, and desserts. The cost is $7 for adults. A children’s meal of chicken tenders for those 4 to 10 is $4. Children 3 and under are free. Carryouts will be available. For more information call the church at (330)-847-7072.

Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will serve meals of meatloaf, potatoes, green beans, salad, bread, beverages, and homemade dessert from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 12.
