Festival seeks ethnic groups

YOUNGSTOWN

The Summer Festival of the Arts is seeking ethnic groups to participate in the Festival of Nations segment of the event, which will be July 10-11 on the Youngstown State University campus.

The Festival of Nations will highlight the Valley’s diverse ethnic populations through a presentation of food, displays, presentations and musical or dance performances.

Ethnic groups must be a member of a church, synagogue or established club or organization to be considered.

One representative group from each culture is generally accepted.

Orchestra concert to feature dancers

GREENVILLE, pa.

Lydia Byard, the 2008 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle champion, will accompany the Greenville Symphony at its Saturday concert, which will also include local dance troupes.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Passavant Center on the Thiel College campus.

The dancing will cover a broad spectrum from jazz to ballet and line dancing to square dancing, swing dancing, clogging and tap.

Dancing Feet from Greenville, Y’s Guys and Gals from Hermitage YMCA, Walnut Lodge from Sharon, The New Vernon Grange Square Dancers and the Traveling Shoes Clogging Show Team will join the symphony.

Devorah, a Youngstown native living on the West Coast, will be featured with music written specifically for this concert.

Tickets are $15 ($13 for seniors; free for children and students).

No tickets at Macy’s

Macy’s department stores are no longer outlets for Ticketmaster.

Tickets to all events at Covelli Centre and other venues handled by Ticketmaster can no longer be purchased at the stores.

Ticketmaster continues to have outlets at the Boardman and Hermitage, Pa., Giant Eagle stores.

May birthday bash

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown’s Total Package Band will have a month of May birthday party May 14 at Love Lounge, 19 W. Federal St., downtown.

Adults who were born in May can celebrate their birthday at the club that night.
