A motorist traveling along South Avenue lost control of his vehicle and struck a day-care center Tuesday morning. The driver was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, and no one else was injured in the crash, which occurred around 7:40 a.m. Authorities believe the driver may have suffered a heart attack.

Drive-by shooting

A city man is recovering at home after being shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting on the city’s South Side.

According to police, the 20-year-old Winona Avenue man was standing in front of a house in the 800 block of Winona just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when a light-blue Chevrolet Caprice drove by with someone inside the car shooting. The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center by his mother.

Midlothian robbery

Police are looking for the man who robbed at gunpoint another man walking on the South Side.

According to police, a 22-year-old Sheridan Road man was walking along Midlothian Boulevard near Lemoyne Avenue just before 10 p.m. Monday when he was stopped by a man wearing a blue hoodie and gray jogging pants. The man wearing the hoodie pulled out a gun and demanded the man’s money.

The victim told police he handed over his wallet, and the thief removed $48 before throwing the wallet back at him and running off.

Angel food orders

Crossroads Church is taking orders for Angel Food Blessings in a Box. The Angel Food program is intended to reduce the amount members of the community pay for groceries each month. A box of meats, vegetables, fruit and more, valued at $75, costs $30. There are no income restrictions.

Orders for food will be taken from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Monday. Cash, money orders, debit and credit cards and the Ohio Direction Card are accepted. Hubbard payments

Utility-bill payments will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the window of the utilities department at Hubbard administration building. Payments made from the 25th to the 31st of the month must be in cash or money order. Payments also can be put in the drop box at the city building, made through the automatic payment plan or mailed to the administration building, 220 W. Liberty St., P.O. Box 307, Hubbard, 44425-0307.
