Thoughts about paying taxes
On tax filing day, a number of thoughts came to mind.
Why do residents of these United States of American complain about having to pay taxes? Where would they be without taxes that support so many things that people want, depend on or expect? Look around you, folks. Count your blessings that you live in the country that you do and put a smile on your face as you put your tax returns in the mail.
This brings up another question: why do so many employees deliberately overpay taxes with the determination that a refund will be received? This gives the federal government an interest free loan by letting the Treasury Department do your banking for you.
Think about the benefits you receive in relation to the taxes paid. Yes, of course, the Pentagon pays money that should not be spent, especially to contractors that have not even submitted bids. Yes, our people in Congress receive benefits that we do not receive, and can and do give themselves raises in spit of Social Security benefits not increasing. Yes, there should be the 28th Amendment which would curtail many things that Congress people receive at our expense.
If we are being overtaxed, do something about it other than gripe and complain. Write to your government officials; try to rally your neighbors, friends, acquaintances to join in the protests that you have started. (Am I a “tea partier?” No.)
Why do “right to lifers” complain about a woman’s personal decision to not carry an unwanted baby to birth for whatever reason? Is it because “they” are afraid that the day will come that there will not have been enough babies born to eventually their wars? Does that make sense? Not to me. It is my hope and prayer that Wade v. Roe will never be overturned by the Supreme Court, regardless of who is sitting on the court.
Enough ranting for only two issues.
