EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.

Duke and Butler will meet again next season, eight months after their classic national championship game.

The schools will play Dec. 4 in what is sure to be a highly anticipated regular-season game at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The Blue Devils won their fourth NCAA title in Indianapolis on April 5 by beating the fan favorite Bulldogs 61-59, as Gordon Hayward’s potential winning shot from halfcourt bounced off the rim.

RutGers to name coach

NEWARK, N.J.

Mike Rice, whose Robert Morris team lost in overtime to Villanova in the first round of the NCAA tournament, has agreed to become the coach at Rutgers.

The school plans to introduce Rice at a news conference later this week.

Rice, a native of Boardman and the son of the former coach at Youngstown State by the same name, replaces Fred Hill, who resigned two weeks ago after agreeing to a settlement that avoided a bitter court battle. The Scarlet Knights were 47-77 under Hill in four seasons, including a 13-57 record in the Big East.

Rice led Robert Morris to the last two NCAA tournaments.
