Springfield 13-0, Newton Falls 4-3

NEWTON FALLS

In the 13-4 game, Newton Falls took a 2-1 lead after the first inning but Springfield scored five runs in the top of the second to take control. Eight different players scored runs for the Tigers, who had 18 hits. Ashley Davis and Samantha Semach had four hits apiece, while Erica Pitts, Andria Lyons, Nicole Casalini and Madison Groner each had three. Makayla Crouser had three hits with Breanna Ginter adding two to lead Newton Falls. In the second game, Newton Falls scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a scoreless tie. Jessica Benetis started the rally with a two-out single, moving to third on a Breanna Ginter single. After Benetis scored on a passed ball and Lauren Walker walked, Abbie Harrah had a double which scored Ginter and Walker. The two-hitter by Bailey Shade (5-10) included 15 strikeouts and one walk. Ginter had two hits for the Tigers (6-14). Springfield is 9-13.
