Area gardeners capture GCO flower show awards
CINCINNATI
“It’s Not Easy Being Green - Or Is It?” was the theme for the Garden Club of Ohio Convention flower show where area garden clubs and gardeners took many of the top awards.
During the awards luncheon, certificates were presented to the following:
Nature Lovers Garden Club, first place, the Garden Therapy Service. Award.
Youngstown District Garden Clubs, first place, the Blue Star Memorial Award.
East Liverpool-Calcutta Garden Club, three first-place awards, the Horticulture/Environmental/Education Award, the Community Enrichment Project or program Award, and Publicity Pressbooks award.
Individual winners were:
Millie Campean of Gleaner’s Garden Club, a first-place ribbon for her capsule table setting, “Dinner at the Green Briar Resort.”
Sheila Bowman of Nature Lovers Garden Club, first place for her entry, “Reuse-Everything Old Is New Again.”
Beverly Patrick of Trumbull County Herb Society, a third-place ribbon for her exhibition-type one table setting, “Picnic On the Village Green.”
Dianna Mullins of Nature Lovers, a third-place ribbon for her miniature design, “Tickle Me Elmo;” a third-place for a terrarium, “Award of Merit;” and a blue ribbon for her narcissus entry, “Tahiti.”
