A Youngstown woman faces a robbery charge, accused of fighting with loss-prevention officers at J.C. Penney.

Patricia Hunt, 42, of Radcliffe Avenue, is to appear next week in Mahoning County Area Court here. There were warrants for Hunt’s arrest for failure to appear in court in Austintown and Campbell and for drug offenses in Hubbard.

Police were called around 5 p.m. Monday to the store at Southern Park Mall on a report of a shoplifting suspect in a physical fight with store loss-prevention personnel.

Store employees told police that Hunt had concealed clothing in her pants and left the store without paying for them. As a loss-prevention officer approached her, Hunt ran, the officer told police. When he caught up with her again, she began to fight with him, he told police.

St. Joseph’s closing

MANTUA

St. Joseph School, opened in this Portage County village in 1962, will close at the end of the current school year June 30. Declining enrollment was a major factor in the decision, with only 59 students in kindergarten through eighth grade registered for next fall. The announcement comes five weeks after the Diocese of Youngstown said the St. Pius X campus of Notre Dame School in Warren is closing this year and transferring its programs to Blessed Sacrament School, also in Warren. The diocese comprises six counties: Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Trumbull.
