Visitor shot in head near N. Side house
Staff Report

One man was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center early Monday night with a gunshot wound to the head. TV broadcast reports said the man died, but neither police nor hospital officials confirmed that.
Police were called to 45 Lauderdale Ave. about 6:30 p.m.
Capt. Rod Foley said witnesses said the victim, who had not been identified as of late Monday, didn’t live at the house but had come to visit and was shot outside in front of the home.
Yellow cones marked the locations of shell casings across the sidewalk and front yard of the one-story red-brick house on the city’s North Side.
A red baseball cap lay in the front yard with a pair of women’s high-heeled shoes nearby.
“Who was shot?” a man who ran up to the scene asked officers. “Someone said it was my little brother.”
Officers told the man the victim had been taken to the hospital, and he ran back down the street to his vehicle.
