Ohio appliance rebates go quickly

COLUMBUS (AP) — Officials say most of the appliance rebates Ohio began offering on Friday are already spoken for, including all the rebates for dishwashers.

The Ohio Department of Development says residents who want to buy a new, energy-efficient dishwasher and receive $100 back from the state now go on a waiting list for any rebates that were reserved but go unused.

Through federal stimulus funds, the state offered close to 90,000 rebates on purchases of replacement home dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines, gas heaters and electric heat pump water heaters.

Ohioans who make a reservation either online (at OhioApplianceRebate.com) or by phone at 1 (888) 686-8896 have 72 hours to make their purchase and claim their rebate before it goes back into the pool.
