Lower gas rates set for Youngstown
Lower gas rates set for Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN
City officials have negotiated a reduced natural-gas price for residents and small businesses.
Those enrolled in the program will pay a fixed rate of $6.39 per MCF (1,000 cubic feet) of natural gas between May 1 and Nov. 30. IGS Energy, the city’s gas supplier, will send letters to city customers late this week about the reduction.
The city’s current rate is $7.46 MCF.
“Our expiring rate ... was an excellent rate for our residents this past winter, and we are delighted to have been able to strike an even lower rate going forward,” Mayor Jay Williams said.
Those who are currently in the city program don’t have to do anything to receive the lower rate, he said.
Also, those served by another supplier can enroll in the city/IGS program by calling IGS at (800) 280-4474.
