Gala wine and food pairing event set at Youngstown Country Club

YOUNGSTOWN

Rotary District 6650 will sponsor an elegant “American Wine and Food Pairing Experience” from 6 to 10 p.m. April 17 at Youngstown Country Club.

The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet social featuring a cash bar and an appetizer course of homemade breads and Amish and American cheese selections such as Tillamook cheddar and Maytag blue.

A group study exchange team from France will present wines from the Burgundy region of France.

There will be several food stations created by Chef Chris Pinter, where patrons can sample such items as lollipop lamb chops, free-range chicken pinwheels stuffed with sundried tomatoes and pistachio nuts, beef cognac with grilled peppers and onion, Honolulu sunfish with apricot Amish herb butter, salad with sweet garlic dressing, baked apples and parmesan, and classic American desserts.

Wines selected to pair with the foods will be provided by the outbound GSE team members, Andy Troutman of Wolf Creek Winery, Joseph Hollabaugh of L’uva Bella Winery, Kristopher Sperry of Myrddin Winery, and Jessica Yoho of Fisher Foods. French wines will be presented by Franck Kakou of European Wine Imports.

There will be dancing to the music of Steve Fazzini.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling Mary Womble, (330) 759-6891. Reservations are required by April 10.
