Pangiota Cucuras feted on birthday

Mrs. Pangiota Cucuras celebrated her 104th birthday with family and friends on March 24 at Briarfield at The Ridge, where Weathersfield Township Trustees presented her with a proclamation.

Born March 4, 1906, to Manuel and Fadra (Palfas) Curtis on the island of Rhodes in Greece, she had a brother and sister.

She came to the United States with her husband, Kyrakos, and to Warren, where they raised their three children, Nicholas, Fadra (Lambos) and Flora (Hadzis). She has six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cucuras studied the U.S. Constitution and became a citizen in 1970. She always worked hard, sewed, baked and grew a garden, and she baked her own bread until shortly before moving to the nursing facility.
