Civil War wedding to be featured at Celebrate Poland festivities

POLAND

One facet of American history will be brought to life during the Celebrate Poland festivities when a couple are married at the Civil War Camp June 26 on Poland Village Green.

The Celebrate Poland Inc. Board is seeking engaged couples who are interested in being married at the event. The couples will be asked to complete an application before Friday. Three couples will be chosen as finalists and will be interviewed the week of April 5. Their personal stories will be published in the The Vindicator’s Poland Neighbors newspaper, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for one couple to be married by the Rev. Bob Quaintance of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman.

Each applicant must be at least 21 years of age, a legal resident of the United States, a resident of the Mahoning County area with a good moral background, and must secure a proper marriage license.

The winning couple, who will be asked to dress in Civil War-period attire, will receive a prize package donated by area merchants.
