The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District’s appliance- collection day will be from 9 a.m. to noon April 10 for Trumbull and Geauga county residents.

Free Freon removal and unloading help will be provided at the pickup location — district headquarters, 5138 Enterprise Blvd. off Parkman Road Northwest.

There is a $10 fee for disposal of TVs up to 27 inches and $15 for TVs over 27 inches.

Household hazardous waste — paint, oil, anti-freeze, propane tanks, computer equipment and other items — will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays May 5 through Sept. 29.

The site also will be open from 9 a.m. to noon May 1, June 5 and Aug. 7.

Federal cash for cars

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

U. S. Rep. Jason Altmire of McCandless, Pa., D-4th, secured $120,000 from the federal budget to pay for new vehicles for the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

Altmire will present the check at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the county courthouse.

Help with gas bills

Dominion Gas has a program called “energy share” administered by the Salvation Army for anyone having trouble paying their gas-heating bill.

If you are 60 or older and live in the 44444 ZIP code area, you do not need a shut- off notice. If you are under 60, you need a shut-off notice and must live in that ZIP code area.

Take your latest bill to the Church Mouse, 26 1‚Ñ2 W. Broad St. The program ends May 31. If you have a shut-off notice, see Doug Herlinger.

A portion of Struthers-Liberty Road, running north and south between Tenney and Matawan and running east and west from Gertrude to Struthers-Liberty Road, will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday for waterline and valve repair.
