Program of healing music set Friday at Stambaugh

Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Mysore, India, will be featured in a program of healing music at 6 p.m. Friday in Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave. The program, titled “Keeravani Raga Sagara,” will showcase Sri Swamiji on the synthesizer, which produces the sounds of many instruments.

He will be accompanied by Jaitra Varanasi, violin; Shankar Ramesh, mridangam; Mahesh Bhatt, tabla; and Mani Narasimha, harmonium.

The concert is free; donations will be accepted. The event is presented by Yoga Sangeeta.

Sri Swamiji’s therapy revolves around the healer-musician. “Listen with your heart and not with your intellect,” he said. The resounding synthesizer sets pace and with other instruments results in a melodious fusion that produces healing on various levels.

In the last decade, Sri Swamiji has played in Youngstown in 2003, 2004 and 2009. He has visited the Hindu Temple, 6464 Sodom Hutchings Road.He is involved in multiple social and humanitarian projects.
