Students from the second and fourth grades at Dobbins Elementary School brought their parents to school for math fun, games and refreshments during the school’s annual Family Math Night Mar. 11.

Families rotated through six math activity centers throughout the evening, focusing on math concepts such as time, money, geometry and measurement.

“I was glad my dad did Math Night with me,” said DJ Skarote, a second-grade student. “I really liked using the calculator to go shopping.”

Prizes were awarded randomly between each activity, and students went home with folders full of fun ways to practice math.

“Family Math Night continues to be a great way for our parents and children to practice basic math skills in creative ways,” said Dobbins’ principal Cheryl Borovitcky. “I am so happy to see the support of our PTO and Dobbins families for this annual event.”

The event was organized by Borovitcky and the Dobbins Elementary PTO in collaboration with student teachers from Westminster College and volunteers from Poland Seminary High School.
