Brode, Hartsough shine at state meet

Canfield thrower Dustin Brode added to his list of state championships Saturday, winning indoor state titles in the weight throw and shot put.

The event was held at the University of Akron. He tossed the weight 70-4 to defend his state title and win the event by more than 3 feet. In the shot, he recorded a throw of 64-3 to win by 5 feet.

Canfield junior Leanna Hartsough placed fifth in the high jump in the meet with a jump of 5-4.

New track officials association members

The Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association have eight new members.

The new officials are: Michelle Bistrica, Greg Choma, Neil Claypool, Dorthy DelBoccio, Debra Dougherty, Lauren Handwork, Allison Jakubec and Ted Yukaniak.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Game tickets

Tickets for the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals are on sale.

The Hall of Fame Game is August 8 at 8 p.m. at Fawcett Stadium, located next to the Hall of Fame. Tickets may be ordered online at Profootballhof.com or by calling 1-800-913-9788.

The game follows by one day, the enshrinement of the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010 which includes Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith.

Scrappers offer bus trip to Indians game

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers have announced a bus trip ticket package to the Cleveland Indians home opener against the Texas Rangers Apr. 12.

The cost of the trip is $35 and includes the bus trip and a right field, upper level ticket to the game. Parking will be available at Eastwood Mall and the bus will leave at 12 p.m.
