Area high schoolers compte at annual state History Day today

History doesn’t have to be boring.

Students from Mahoning, Trumbull, Portage, Geauga and Ashtabula counties discovered that as they created various projects for the Ohio State Historical Society’s Annual History Day.

The theme of the event, held Saturday at Youngstown State University, was “Innovation in History: Impact and Change.”

Jessica Marando, a 16-year-old Hubbard High School sophomore, worked in a group to create an exhibit on the history of photography.

With the pictures we chose I learned a lot,” she said. “Not only about photography, but just about history.”

Other local exhibits forcused on turntables and roller coasters.
