The Austintown Middle School PTA hosted a winter sports banquet March 11 to honor the accomplishments of the participants in boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, dance line and wrestling.

The PTA presented a 20-minute Power Point production to highlight the teams’ seasons and school officials spoke at the banquet.

Each coach introduced their teams and highlighted the accomplishments of the athletes. This year’s coaches included Megan Fabis and Danielle Bendel (dance line), Don Kollar, Aaron Means, Nick Bodnar, Fred Weidenthal and Jeremy Jarvinen (wrestling), Anthony Ferridino and Brian Beany (AMS Blue boys basketball) and Jeff Wilson (girls basketball).

Additional coaches were Joe Paris and Jake Corbett (AMS Red boys basketball), Brittney Linton and Jennifer Lightner (cheerleading), Nicole Caldwell (assistant AMS Red girls basketball) and Dorthy DelBoccio and John Williams (AMS Blue girls basketball).

The AMS eighth-grade Red girls basketball team was recognized for completing an undefeated 17-0 season and winning the All-American Conference championship.
