Kindergarten students from four Poland elementary schools got a taste of what’s to come when the arena show “Walking With Dinosaurs” comes to the Covelli Center May 4-5.

A ‘live’ baby tyrannosaurus rex stopped by the Poland Library Monday to greet a group of students. The creature is one of 17 life-sized dinosaurs featured in the arena show.

Responding to chants of “Baby T!” the life-sized dinosaur, estimated to be about the size of a 6-month-old tyrannosaurus rex, entered the room to cheers and screams.

The dinosaur snapped his jaws and roared for a crowd of children, who reacted with a mixture of uneasiness and excitement. Students were permitted to touch the dinosaur’s head.

“It was amazing, it was so great,” said Anthony Koulinos, a kindergarten student at Dobbins Elementary School. “I barely got to touch him but I did get to touch him a little.”
