Trip to exhibition of Burchfield’s art

An overnight bus tour to Buffalo, N.Y., to view an exhibition by artist Charles Burchfield will leave Salem and Youngstown on May 7.

The world-renowned Burchfield (1893-1967) was a Salem native, and many of the paintings in the exhibition are of Salem-area scenes. The retrospective, “Heat Waves in Swamp,” is at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, and it includes more than 80 works, plus Burchfield’s journals, scrapbooks and letters.

The bus trip will depart from First Presbyterian Church, Salem, at 7:30 a.m. and make a stop at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown before continuing to Buffalo. Gallery open house

SHARON, Pa.

29 Logan Ave., an art gallery on the West Hill, will have an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday featuring artist Tony Kropp, who is known for his “art dolls.” The gallery, is a collaboration of more than 60 artists.

Coming to an end

MTV’s hit series “The Hills” is coming to an end after one more season. The network said Thursday the sixth and last season of the reality soap will begin April 27. Twelve new episodes will be aired before “The Hills” calls it quits.
