Tennessee tops Ohio State

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Brian Williams scored on a tip-in with 32 seconds left, Bobby Maze converted a pair of free throws and J.P. Prince blocked Evan Turner’s desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer, leading Tennessee to a 76-73 victory over Ohio State in the Midwest Regional semifinals Friday night.

It’s the first trip to the round of eight in school history for the sixth-seeded Volunteers.

Turner, a leading contender for national player of the year honors, was a one-man scoring machine in the second half, accounting for all but three of Ohio State’s baskets. But it’s 5-on-5, not 1-on-5, and the second-seeded Buckeyes are going home.
