POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman:

March 20

Assault: A woman reported her 18-year-old son was punched in the head at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave. He had a bruise and cut near the left eye.

Theft: A man reported a .22-caliber handgun missing from his home in the 4600 block of Southern Boulevard.

Auto theft: A 1998 Dodge Dakota was stolen in the 5200 block of Old Oxford Lane.

Auto theft: A Campbell woman’s 1990 Chevrolet van was stolen at a Doral Drive business.

Domestic violence: A township boy, 16, faced two counts after his parents alleged the teen had shoved them during an argument about his suspected marijuana use.

Arrest: Lamika D. Watt, 28, of 74 Rutledge Ave., Youngstown, was arrested at a South Avenue motel on warrants accusing her of failing to appear in court on two traffic violations, including failure to place a child in a safety restraint.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road sustained $1,600 worth of damage after both windshields, a passenger-side door and several mirrors were damaged.

Theft: A mounted rotating light was stolen from atop a car in the 7400 block of South Avenue.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers responded to the 7100 block of Market Street and charged two 16-year-old Boardman boys with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia when, police said, suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe were found.

Theft: A 14-year-old city boy was charged after a witness reported seeing the teen remove a bicycle from the front porch of a neighbor’s Canterbury Lane residence.

Arrest: Officers responded to a suspicious person at a U.S. Route 224 business and took 50-year-old Robert P. Mallin, 7397 Bonnie Place, Boardman, into custody. Mallin was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

March 21

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 7300 block of West Boulevard had its front windshield smashed as well as dents and scrapes on the hood, for a damage estimate of $800.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a woman’s wanting to pick up her son in the 4800 block of Erie Street, then charged the 14-year-old Struthers teen with aggravated menacing, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. The boy threatened an officer, refused to cooperate and struggled briefly with police, a report showed.

Assault: A township boy reported a 19-year-old man repeatedly struck his head and neck at a Boardman-Canfield Road business.

Theft: A 32-inch TV was taken from a home in the 100 block of Maple Drive.

Damage: A rear window and wheel were damaged on a vehicle in the 8500 block of Market Street.

Theft: A boy reported the theft of his skateboard while in the 1300 block of Pheasant Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone cut the lock on a drop-off box and damaged the latches at Movie Gallery, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road.

March 22

Theft: A man grabbed a donation jar and fled from a Market Street store.

Forgery: An employee with the Boardman License Bureau Inc., 229 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police a man inquiring about obtaining an Ohio driver’s license presented a fraudulent international license. The man said he got the license online and denied any wrongdoing, a report said.

Theft: An $800 computer was taken from a business in the 6900 block of Market Street.

Auto theft: A 2001 Cadillac DeVille was stolen in the 4700 block of Lockwood Boulevard.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear window was broken, with damage estimated at $500, in the 4100 block of Devonshire Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone broke into and damaged two cars in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Theft: A global-positioning-system device, a checkbook and money were removed from vehicles someone had entered in the 4100 block of Windsor Road.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 4200 block of Glenwood Avenue had a driver’s-side window broken.

Theft: A Carter Circle woman noticed $20 had been withdrawn from her account without consent.

Theft/forgery: A Struthers woman reported personal checks stolen from a Basil Avenue home were forged and cashed at a township store.

Vandalism: Someone wrote on playground equipment at Robinwood Lane Elementary School, 835 Indianola Road.

Theft: A yellow envelope with several photographs was stolen from a vehicle in the 4200 block of Devonshire Drive.

Theft/damage: Someone broke a car window in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive before taking a credit card and $20.

Theft: A diaper bag with various baby items was removed from a vehicle in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue.

March 23

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed and smeared food on a vehicle at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A purse was removed from a car in the 1500 block of Tamarisk Trail.

Misuse of a credit card: A McDonald man learned his debit card had been used without authorization at a Southern Park Mall store.

Breaking and entering: Two air-conditioning units were stolen from an Old Oxford Lane residence after someone cut a lock to a basement storage area.

Theft: A Deer Run Drive woman discovered a $343 unauthorized online withdrawal had been made from her account.

Menacing: A worker with a Windham Court business said a client threatened to harm him after becoming upset about the client’s legal case.

Theft: A GPS unit was stolen from a car in the 1500 block of Tamarisk Trail.

Arrest: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 led to the arrest of 63-year-old James T. Gaca, 30 Anna Circle, Struthers, who was wanted on a charge of contempt of court.

Assault: A man driving near Lynn Mar Avenue reported another driver approached as the accuser pulled into a driveway, then tossed a lighted cigarette, striking him above the right eye. The driver said the accuser had tossed something at his car and denied throwing the cigarette, a report said.
