Suspect caught by Facebook tip waives extradition

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A man wanted for sexual assault whose capture in Pennsylvania was prompted by a Facebook tip will return to Oregon to face charges.

Laramie Torres, 35, waived extradition Tuesday in Erie County Court. He’s wanted on 10 counts of first-degree rape and 10 counts of first-degree sodomy.

Authorities in Medford, Ore., say Torres sexually abused a girl starting when she was 11 and continuing until she was 15. He was charged in November and fled the state.

Pennsylvania State Police say Torres was arrested last month in Erie after they were forwarded a tip a Michigan man sent to a Facebook page dedicated to Torres’ capture.
