School district closes open enrollment

Liberty schools will not accept any new open-enrollment students for the 2010-11 school year. The district has 108 students through open enrollment; the policy change will not affect them.

“When we look at the current status of the Liberty schools, we are reaching classroom/teacher capacity, and now is the time to close open enrollment to new students for the 2010-11 school year,” said Jeffrey Grinstein, school board president.

The change will be effective with the next school year that begins in August.

A police report said the residence had “garbage and junk” piled throughout, and had “a strong odor.”

The man told police he had no home-health-care workers or family members to contact. Police found a relative who was able to come and secure the house. The man was taken to Northside Medical Center.
