Ohio high court upholds man's death sentence

COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld the conviction and death sentence of a man who stabbed his former girlfriend to death with a butcher knife in front of her grandchildren.

In a 7-0 ruling today, the state’s highest court rejected claims by Clarence Fry that errors were made, first in his indictment and later by the judge at his trial.

Fifty-year-old Fry, of Akron, was convicted of aggravated murder in the killing of 41-year-old Tamila Hardison in July 2005. He was removed from court the following year during sentencing when he wouldn’t stop laughing and smiling, though that was not an issue in Fry’s appeal.
