An accident injured a woman and an 11-year-old girl in Neshannock Township.

Neshannock Township police said Marie J. Bondi, 69, of Nesbitt Road was driving east on Shenango Road at 1:19 p.m. Saturday and passed out.

Her car drifted out and back into her lane, left the road and hit a mailbox, police said, and then the car traveled through several yards and hit a wooden retaining wall and a tree.

The car engine caught fire.

Police said the two had to be cut out of the car. Bondi and the passenger, Marie Beahr of Clover Lane, were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals, police said.

There was no report on the severity of their injuries or to which hospitals they were taken.

Police said the 11-year-old wasn’t “restrained properly.”

Police are investigating.
