City man dies in shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

A city man died as a result of a shooting about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Eddie Wooldridge, 53, was found in his home at 64 Livingston St. at 9:37 p.m. Saturday.

Wooldridge was lying on the living room floor. Police said Wooldridge had labored breathing and was unresponsive.

An officer noted an apparent 9-mm shell casing on the floor and an apparent 9-mm slug on a nearby chair.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Youngstown campus.

Police said a witness, Larry Alexander, 55, who was staying at the house, took a test that would show if he had gunshot residue on his hands.

Wooldridge died at 10 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Police did not release any more information on the case. If ruled a homicide, Wooldridge’s death would become the city’s eighth homicide of 2010. At this time in 2009, Youngstown had recorded six homicides.
