District plans pond clinic, sales

Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District pond clinic will be at 6:30 p.m. March 31 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm McMahon Hall, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

You must preregister by Friday. The cost is $5 per person. A light meal will be provided. For highlights of the program, visit the district’s Web site www.mahoningswcd.org.

The district says tree saplings also may be ordered before April 9. Pickup dates are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 16 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17 at Canfield Fairgrounds Coliseum 8.

Tree descriptions and order forms are on the Web site. Packets are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline to order fingerling fish is April 23. Pickup date is 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 27 at Coliseum 8.

Pond safety kits also are available. What to bring when picking up your order, stocking recommendations, and order forms are all on the Web site. Prepaid orders will be processed first, check or money orders only. Mark dates on your calendars. Refunds will not be guaranteed.

Cedar birdfeeders and birdhouses also are available for purchase at the district office, 850 Industrial Road, Youngstown, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
