Canfield High School students hope a one-day basketball tournament will help raise money for the Chile earthquake victims.
The 8.8-magnitude quake Feb. 27 killed more than 700 people and left more than 2 million homeless, according to a news release from the school’s senior-class officers.
The four-on-four tournament, organized by the senior-class officers, will be at 3:30 p.m. March 29 in the high school gymnasium.
The entry fee is $20 per team of four and $15 if the team includes a faculty member. Only one girls or boys varsity or junior varsity player is allowed per team, according to the news release.
The event is open to the public, and admission is $1 per person.
Donations and sponsors also will be accepted. A bronze sponsor costs $100, silver sponsor is $200 and gold sponsor is $300. The sponsorship guarantees the name of your business on the tournament’s T-shirts, according to the news release.
Checks can be made payable to Brother’s Brother Foundation/Chile.
