YSU honors Canfield City Manager

Canfield City Manager Joseph V. Warino has received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Youngstown State University.

Warino is a registered Professional Engineer, registered Professional Surveyor, and Fellow in the National Society of Professional Engineers.

He is the current President of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (through July 1) and a Past-President (2007-08) of the Engineers Foundation of Ohio.

Warino received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from YSU with a minor in Economics.

He has held several public and professional positions in the Mahoning Valley, including Community Development Officer for the City of Youngstown (1975-1982), Chief Engineer of the Youngstown Water Department (1982-1984), Chief Deputy Mahoning County Engineer (1984-1989), Division Manager of Municipal Services for MS Consultants (1989-1997) and Mahoning County Sanitary Engineer (1997-2009).

He has served on the advisory board for YSU’s Civil Engineering program for the past 12 years.

His wife, Linda, and three children are also YSU graduates. The couple is a lifetime member of the YSU Alumni Association.
