Phantoms fall to West-leading Lancers

Nick Czinder scored Youngstown’s only goal, but West Division-leading Omaha had too much firepower for the Phantoms, winning 6-1 in a United States Hockey League game on Friday night.
The Lancers (37-12-6, 80 points) scored the first three goals of the game and went 2-for-6 on the power play while holding Youngstown (17-34-3, 37 points) to an 0-for-5 performance with a man advantage.
Dakota Eveland scored twice for Omaha, including a short-handed tally with 2:52 remaining in the first period, the only goal of the opening frame, that gave the Lancers the lead.
Eveland’s second goal, with 12:33 remaining in the second period, made it 2-0, and Erik Haula’s goal with 9:56 to go gave Omaha a 3-0 lead.
Czinder’s tally, on an assist by David Donnellan, made it 3-1 with 3:13 remaining in the second period.
The Phantoms were held scoreless in the final period while Omaha scored three times, on goals by Greg Wolfe, Stefan Demopoulos and Troy Power.
Justin Holl had two assists for the Lancers.
