YOUNGSTOWN

The sixth annual “Rites of Passage Beautillion” will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. April 10 in the Chestnut Room in Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

The Beautillion, an elegant dinner-dance event, is a culmination of a scholarship program sponsored by Jack and Jill of America Inc.

The Beautillion program offers:

• Leadership and mentoring workshops with African-American role models in the community.

• Workshops that contribute to the overall social, educational and character development of each young man, along with cultural self-awareness

• Mentors who inspire each young man to focus on career objectives and provide opportunities to help them achieve the objectives.

• Scholarship awards to each participant.

During the evening young African American high school junior and senior males from Ursuline, Youngstown Early College, Chaney, Boardman, Fitch, Warren G. Harding and Youngstown Christian schools will be recognized for their commitment to furthering their education.

The young men are future leaders and role models for the community.
