Fundraiser set for injured boy

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Area residents on Tuesday can help defray the cost of medical treatments for a 16-year-old boy who was injured in a 2007 golf-cart accident.

Caleb Cope, 16, would be a sophomore at Crestview High School in New Waterford. On July 25, 2007, he rolled a golf cart while visiting in Boardman and was oxygen-deprived. He’s now in Wauseon, Ohio, to receive at least 40 hyperbaric oxygen treatments.

To defray the cost, a fundraiser will be Tuesday at Bob Evans on California Avenue behind Southern Park Mall.

To participate, go to breakfast, lunch or dinner Tuesday, and 15 percent of the meal total will go to help Caleb.

It’s important, however, to obtain a voucher first so that Caleb will get credit when the bill is paid.

Vouchers are available in Mahoning County at: Westgate Pizza, Boardman; Steamers, North Lima; Premier Chalet, North Lima; or from Caleb’s great-aunt Gloria Golladay at (330) 758-5787 or e-mail at gloriag@ohiopetfoods.com; in Columbiana village: Wellman’s Flowers, Ryan’s News and Columbiana Chrysler-Dodge; and at Vittle Village in New Waterford.
