Workshop to feature Polish traditions

YOUNGSTOWN

A Polish Easter traditions workshop (Swieconka) will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave.

There will be vendors and tastings of a variety of authentic Easter foods, which can also be ordered at http://www.polishyoungstown.com/images/nw/easter.pdf. Pickup will be during Holy Week.

There will be a performance by the Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle at 1:30 p.m., a coloring contest for children, a bakery, drawings for gift baskets and a 50-50 raffle.

Cooking seminar

CORTLAND

Lake Vista Retirement Community, 303 N. Mecca, will present a free seminar and cooking demonstration by Scott Danchise, director of culinary services, at 11 a.m. March 25 at the clubhouse.

Pork Raisers Club elects slate of officers

Badger Pork Raisers 4-H Club elected officers during a meeting in February at Fowler Community Center.

Named to head the organization were Laura Bond, president; Andrew Kaiser, vice president; Emily Robinson, secretary; Clayton Bond, treasurer; David Helberg, news reporter; Katie Pelton, health and safety officer; and Caden Smith, recreation leader.

Robinson was selected to raise a hog to be sold at the Trumbull County Fair as a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

New and returning members are encouraged to attend the next meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday at the center.

Sale of formal gowns benefits cancer fund

BOARDMAN

The second annual Dress for a Dream sale of formal dresses and accessories will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27 at St. Dominic Parish Center on Southern Boulevard.

Dresses will be priced at $10, and proceeds will benefit the Silver Lining Cancer Fund, which helps families of a cancer patient.

The sale is being coordinated by Cathy Murray and her daughters, Rachel Murray and Rebecca Murray-Strong, in memory of her husband and their father, Tom Murray.

Civic League to host History Month event

Warren Civic League will host an annual Celebration of Women History Month on Sunday at the Hippodrome Building, 150 High St. Guests are encouraged to wear hats and gloves.

The dinner buffet will begin at 4 p.m., and the keynote speaker will be the Rev. Gena Thornton of Grace A.M.E. Church.
