Ravenna outfit buys assets of Valley Counseling Services of Warren

WARREN — Valley Counseling Services has announced a proposed purchase of its assets by another not-for-profit agency, Family and Community Services, which has its corporate offices in Ravenna.

The move was taken to preserve programs in Trumbull County in the face of a $1 million cut in funding from the Trumbull County Mental Health Board, said Tim Schaffner, president and chief executive officer of Valley Counseling.

Valley Counseling has served the county for more than 50 years. The agency staff of 80 provides services for 5,000 people a year, Schaffner said.
