POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown Township:

CANFIELD

March 5

Barking dogs: Police issued Donald W. Fouse, 29, 535 S. Hillside Drive, a summons because of barking and howling dogs. There had been nine complaints at his residence about barking dogs in 2009.

March 8

Possession of deadly weapon at school: A fifth-grade female student at Canfield Middle School, 42 Wadsworth St., was referred to juvenile court after a teacher found she had a folding knife with a 3-inch blade in her backpack.

AUSTINTOWN

March 8

Theft: A Garmin GPS was stolen from an auto at the Super 8 Motel.

Theft: A CB radio and a pair of binoculars were stolen from an auto at the Super 8 Motel.

Burglary: Copper pipes were stolen from a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Drive.

Assault: A male is accused of assaulting a 10-year-old boy at S.B.S. Auto Body, 6565 Mahoning Ave.

March 9

Theft: An undisclosed amount of diesel fuel, tarps and a strap valued at $750 were taken from an auto at Fyda Freightliners, 5260 Seventy-Six Drive.

Auto theft: A 1992 Freightliner and a 53-foot trailer were stolen at Club 76, 5335 Seventy-Six Drive. The trailer was later recovered at I-80 and Salt Springs Road.

Auto theft: A 1998 Ford Explorer was stolen and later returned at an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive. Also taken were $16 in cash, a case containing 300 DVD movies and 120 Vicodin.

Warrant: Eric Lesick, 41, 6345 Fairview Road, Austintown, was arrested on a warrant on a charge of passing bad checks.

Attempted theft: A vehicle window was damaged at Sears, 5760 Interstate Blvd.

Criminal damaging: A man is a suspect in criminal damaging at Woodmere Drive and Western Place.

Receiving stolen property: A male is suspected of receiving a stolen bicycle in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

March 10

Menacing by stalking: A man is accused of menacing at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.

Auto theft: A 1997 International trailer was stolen in a parking lot in the 1000 block of N. Niles-Canfield Road and later located running at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Lost or stolen property: A passport, Social Security card and birth certificate were reported stolen at a home in the 1200 block of N. Beverly Ave.

Theft: 600-foot section of telephone cable was cut from a telephone pole owned by AT&T in the 5000 block of W. Webb Road.

March 11

Assault: Police were given conflicting stories of an assault involving an ex-boyfriend and girlfriend at Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.

Fraud: $99.95 was charged to an account at a home in the 3000 block of Huntmere Drive.

Telecommunications harassment: Numerous calls and text messages were reported at a home in the 4000 block of Woodhurst Drive.

Theft: An iPhone was stolen at Rumors Lounge, 164 N. Meridian Road.

Assault: A man is a suspect in an assault at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.

Warrant: Brian J. Cleckner, 27, 850 N. Meridian Rd., Apt. 315, Austintown, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Theft: Bicycles were stolen from an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested Joseph Potts, 29, 7374 West Boulevard, No. 103, Boardman, on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

March 12:

Explosive device: An explosive device was taken by Youngstown police bomb squad at a home in the 60 block of Howard Street.

Theft: A stereo was stolen from a vehicle at a home in the 4000 block of Winthrop Drive.

Aggravated menacing: A male is a suspect in aggravated menacing at a home in the 5000 block of Norquest Boulevard.

Loose dog: Jeanann Hammond, 55, was issued a summons for a loose dog at her home, 3406 Rebecca Drive, Canfield.

Theft: An ATM card was stolen at First National Bank, 5632 Mahoning Ave.

Domestic violence: Bradley A. Martin, 45, 38 DeHoff Drive, was arrested on a domestic-violence charge at his home.

Warrant: David R. Atwell, 33, 346 DeHoff Drive, was arrested at his home on a warrant involving a burglary charge.

Warrant: Daniel N. Dixon, Jr., 25, 1592 Fountain Square, Austintown, was arrested on a warrant charging a theft, and Jennifer A. Robin, 20, same address, was arrested on the same charge at their home. Both were turned over to Boardman police.

Warrant: Guy R. Ague II, 20, 3855 Frederick St., Austintown, was arrested on a warrant on a charge of criminal damaging at his home.

Drug offense: Christopher Tirone, 19, 68 N. Roanoke Ave., was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana at Mahoning Avenue and Wickliffe Circle. Michelle Bennett, 19, 724 Sunset Drive, Lisbon, was charged with underage possession of alcohol.

March 13

Aggravated menacing: A woman was a victim of aggravated menacing at an apartment in the 6000 block of S. Raccoon Road.

March 14

Assault on a police officer: Keith Miller was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer, criminal trespass and resisting arrest in the 1000 block of Javit Court.

Theft: A quick change by an unidentified male shorted an employee at Fast Trac, 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: $39 in fuel was stolen at Country Fair, 1143 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: A horse trailer was stolen at Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

TWarrant: William Huffman Jr., 43, 3043 Redgate Lane, was arrested on three active warrants out of Washington County at his home. He will be extradited to Washington County. The warrants charged failure to appear for a jury trial and failure to appear for a pretrial. .
