New Castle cop pleads guilty in teen sex case

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — A police officer here has pleaded guilty to reduced charges stemming from accusations that he had sex with two teenage girls.

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Corbin, a New Castle officer, pleaded guilty Monday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to two counts each of indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Prosecutors dropped charges including statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and furnishing alcohol to minors. Deputy Attorney General Laurel Brandstetter says the alleged victims’ families wanted to avoid testifying.

Corbin patrolled New Castle Junior-Senior High School when the alleged assaults occurred in early 2008. The girls were 13 and 15 at the time.

Corbin will be sentenced April 19. He’s been on unpaid leave.
