Fear is a poor motivator

Republicans are spreading fear on the air again, Their commercials against regulations on any business and the health bill scare come across once again as Chicken Little politics The sky is falling!

And they are not alone. The county commissioners just happen to cut deep into the sheriff’s budget, using fear of our own safety to encourage a vote for the tax increase. What I cannot understand: the half percent tax comes to .5 on the dollar and it will only be good for 5 years. The people running the Mahoning County have the power to pass the tax without going to the voters. And making this a 5-year plan passing it means we have to put up with the same crap all over again in five years. Why don’t they just pass in a meeting a one percent sales tax that will last forever, bring in $26 million and stop laying off people?

We elect these people to do a job and make tough decisions. All they care about is getting re-elected again. We deserve better than this.
