Pa. college student pleads guilty to Craigslist thefts

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — A former eastern Pennsylvania college student accused of posting fake online ads to lure victims and rob them has agreed to plead guilty to theft and robbery charges in the case.

Twenty-two-year-old Corey Jackson of East Stroudsburg waived his right to a preliminary hearing at a hearing today in Bethlehem.

Police said he posed as a buyer interested in jewelry and stole expensive rings from the sellers, and offered the sale of a computer but took the cash then wrestled the laptop back. Investigators said he used the free classifieds site Craigslist to find his victims.

Patricia Fuentes Mulqueen, the Northhampton County assistant district attorney, said in court that as part of his plea Jackson had agreed to pay restitution. He is in prison in Philadelphia in connection with a June robbery.
