Moore, Scullion are first team

Ohio State-bound seniors Darryce Moore of Boardman and Amy Scullion of Salem were named first team All-Ohio on Monday.

Moore, who led the Spartans to a 19-5 record, was named to the Division I team, while Scullion, who led Salem to an 18-6 record, was named in Div. II.

The future Buckeyes were among nine area players named by the Associated Press based on recommendations by sports writers and broadcasters around the state.

Also named in Div. I was Howland sophomore Taylor Williams, to the third team. Canfield senior Jillian Halfhill, who will play at Bowling Green, was named to special mention, while Moore’s teammate, Monica Touvelle, and Brianna Dawson of East were named honorable mention. Touvelle has committed to Youngstown State, but said Monday she may reconsider now that coach Cindy Martin announced her resignation. Dawson has signed to play at Akron.

In Div. II, Struthers senior Dana Mathews was named special mention, and her teammate, Katelyn Ardale, was selected to the honorable mention.

West Branch senior Michele Sosnick was also named honorable mention.

Natasha Howard aof Toledo Waite was named player of the year in Div. I, while Mylan Woods of Hathaway Brown was accorded the honor in Div. II.
