Wear your green, grab your shamrock and come to one of the Mahoning Valley’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The 32nd annual Mahoning Valley St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m. today on Market Street at McClurg Road, proceeding north on Market and ending at DeBartolo Place.
About 160 entries are expected, and trophies will be awarded for Best of Parade, Best Irish Theme, Best Float, Best Band, Best Pipe Band, Best Drum Line, Best Marching Unit, Best Novelty and Best Color Guard.
Charity event
The Northeast Ohio Chapter of Children’s International Summer Villages/USA will sponsor a “Passport to Peace,” reverse-raffle gala from 6 to 10 p.m. today at the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park.
The first and each 10th ticket drawn will win $100, and a grand prize of $1,000 will go to the last ticket drawn.
There will be silent and Chinese auction items, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, beverages, desserts and coffee.
Get railroaded!
Youngstown Model Railroad Association will sponsor a flea market of railroad-related items from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at McMenamy’s, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. Admission is $5 but free for children under 12.
