Trustees hire interim zoning inspector

Township trustees appointed a seven-year employee of the zoning department to lead that department for at least 60 days.

Anna Mamone, who has worked as assistant to the zoning inspector for seven years, was named interim zoning inspector at a meeting Monday by a unanimous trustees’ vote. The job is to pay $45,000 annually.

Trustee Thomas Costello said that the department is undergoing a restructuring. Benjamin Breniman, zoning and planning director, resigned, effective last week, after just more than a year on the job. The former assistant zoning inspector resigned in January.

Costello said the township will advertise for an assistant zoning inspector/zoning manager and also expects to hire two or three part-time zoning field inspectors.

Trustee Brad Calhoun said the interim status will be for 60 days as a sort of probationary period. After that, both Mamone and trustees will determine whether she will remain in the post.
