The Vindicator’s Religion page will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, March 28; Maundy/Holy Thursday, April 1; Good Friday, April 2; Holy Saturday, April 3; and Easter and Orthodox Easter, April 4.
The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. March 24 for publication March 27.

Hymn sing-along

A Gospel hymn sing-along is planned March 20 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road.
Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the music at 7.
Rally for men
NEW WATERFORD
Bill Triplett, a former NFL football player from the Mahoning Valley, will speak at the next Rally in the Valley gathering at 7 p.m. March 22 at Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46.
The gathering is one of several monthly meetings designed to build support for the Men’s Rally in the Valley slated for May 8 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown.
That rally, with the theme, “Let’s Walk the Walk,” is a one-day program of speakers, music, drama and video presentations aimed to motivate Youngstown-area Christian men to develop closer fellowship with God and one another.
Triplett, 69, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants before concluding his career with the Detroit Lions in 1972, attended Girard High School and Miami University of Ohio. He’s been a mentor to young people and worked with social service and government agencies.

Novena at shrine

On March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, there will be a solemn blessing of the St. Joseph table in the Cedars Reception Center.

Dr. Eileen Guenther, president of the National American Guild of Organists, will perform an organ concert at 4 p.m. March 21 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave.
She is an associate professor of music at Wesley Theological Seminary and lectures at George Washington University.
She will play works by Bach, Hensel, Mendelssohn and Vierne.
A free-will offering will be taken.

A Global Economics Workshop, scheduled April 23-25 at Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center, is designed to give those who minister in the field of social justice a better grasp of domestic and international economic principles and practices and how they intersect with basic Catholic beliefs.
Topics to include current domestic and international economics, trade, debt, privatization, corporate responsibility, special and differential treatment and market access.
This workshop will additionally overview current UN economic issues in light of Catholic social teaching.
Speakers include Dr. Marci McCarthy, former chief economist for CNBC; and Dr. Amata Miller, who specializes in economics of development and the problems of the economically disadvantaged; and Ana Martinez de Luco, who works with the homeless population in New York.
The conference cost is $285 and $265 for members of the partnership for Global Justice. Cost includes all meals and lodging.

Youth retreat

“Let Your Light Shine!” was the theme for Mahoning Valley United Methodist District Youth Retreat.
Thirteen of Boardman United Methodist youth group members, along with youth groups from 11 other UMC churches, attended this year’s district youth retreat at Camp Asbury in Hiram.
The Boardman group retreat was lead by Jeff Pellin. The goals of the district retreat is to enhance local youth ministries, build connections with people and foster personal relationships with Christ.
In March and April, the youth group is planning service projects with Canton Calvary Mission Service and Angels for Animals.
