Students advance to national competition

Students from the Poland High School Speech and Debate Team competed in the Ohio High School Speech League state tournament with impressive results.

Junior Britta Carson advanced to quarterfinals in Humorous Interpretation, placing in the top 24 of the state.

Senior Catie Carney and Lidia Mowad advanced to Octafinal competition in Public Forum Debate, placing 10th overall in the state.

Samantha Anderson, Paul Alberty, Alek Ball, Matt Cowles, Demitrios Constantine, Ariel Evan, Brendan Hggins, Molly Porter, Katie Slaven, Mitchell Thompson, Annalise Walkama competed at the state tournament but did not advance.

Carney and Mowad have qualified for the National Forensics League tournament to be held in June in Missouri.
