It's only 8:30 a.m. and more than one-third of The Vindicator's Regional Spelling Bee contestants are in their seats in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown Stte University.

The big event doesn't start for another half hour.

It may be a bit dark and gloomy outside this morning, but the mood in the Chestnut Room is bright and full of anticipation.
