A pair of Ohio State recruits and a big addition to the Youngstown Christian boys basketball team highlight the 2009-10 Northeast Inland All-District teams.
Boardman senior Darryce Moore shared player of the year honors in Division I and Salem senior Amy Scullion shared the honor in Division II after leading their respective teams to the district final.
Both players are Buckeye-bound. Moore is a two-time Federal League player of the year while Scullion is a three-time first team All-Ohioan in volleyball.
Campbell girls coach Michael Szenborn was named the co-coach of the year in Division III after leading the Red Devils to their first league title in more than 30 years. Campbell, which also lost in the district final, shared the All-American Conference Blue Tier title with Champion.
Lowellville coach Tony Matisi earned top coaching honors in Division IV after helping the Rockets to a share of the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two title (with Western Reserve) and a district championship.
On the boys side, Youngstown Christian senior Casey Carroll was named player of the year in Division IV after leading the Eagles to a 19-1 regular season record and a berth in Friday’s district final. Carroll transferred from Canfield to YCS in the offseason to play for his father, Eagles coach Dolph Carroll.
McDonald coach Jeff Rasile shared top coaching honors in Division IV after leading the Blue Devils to their third undefeated regular season in three years.
McDonald defeated Youngstown Christian in Friday’s district final to avenge last year’s loss.
