Scouts honored

Boy Scout Troop 25 had its annual Anniversary Dinner and Winter Court of Honor Feb. 24 in the Fellowship Hall of the Canfield United Methodist Church.
Troop Committee Chairman John Kightlinger served as master of ceremonies. The event recognized the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, the 84th anniversary of the troop and honored scouts who have earned rank advancements, merit badges and other awards.
Tenderfoot recognition went to Patrick Byrne, Billy Gibson, Kyle Levine, Patrick Nielson and Job Yeaton. Other scouts honored were D.J. Doran, shotgun shooting; Robert Gleichert, family life; Taylor Kline, communications and music; Eric Mirto, citizenship in the world; Mario Ramunno, second class rank; Rob Reed, citizenship in the nation; and Joe Selim, citizenship in the nation and communications.
The highlight of the evening was the awarding of two unique Troop 25 awards. The 2009 recipient of the Herman West Most Active Scout Award went to Don Duda III and the recipient of the 2009 Jimmy Jones Outstanding Scout Award was Robert Gleichert.
Both awards were named after prominent citizens in Canfield that had served as postmasters and were instrumental in developing Troop 25.
